Virtual Camp: Get Into the Great Outdoors Hiking, Fishing, Astronomy - Grades 6 - 12

Are you looking for an escape to the great outdoors this summer? You’ve come to the right place! We’ll be performing sidewalk science experiments, learning fishing techniques, exploring space, learning about guide dogs, and taking a virtual trail hike through southwest Florida. Mmmm, we can smell the campfire and s’mores already!

Monday - Friday, July 27 - July 31.

Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors - Grades 6 - 12  11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.  Cost:$5.00 per family.

On Monday, July 27, we’ll take a virtual hike through the nature trails at Calusa Nature Center. This trail meanders through 105 acres of southwest Florida. While hiking through several ecosystems, including the Pine Flatwoods and Cypress Dome Swamp, we may see native wildlife. Stunning flora and fauna can also be observed this time of year.

On Tuesday, July 28, are you looking for a fun and educational activity for you and your sister Girl Scouts? Would you and your friends like to fly through outer space?  If so, please join our program partner, the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium, as they create a thrilling, immersive journey through space. Join us for a new adventurous virtual experience and learn about the skies over your own back yard.

On Wednesday, July 29, we’ll join Sidewalk Science Center to enjoy science experiments and demonstrations with everyday objects, all the while learning about the science behind each! Activities may include making cups fly through the air and magnets fall in slow motion, seeing the scale of the solar system, making holograms and human electric circuits, and so much more! With more than 24 activities on rotation, and more being added daily, every visit with Sidewalk Science Centers is a unique, memorable experience. Girls will focus on Optics, Magnetism, and Physics!

On Thursday, July 30, our special guest and program partner, Sabrina Cummings, will join us for a virtual fishing workshop. Sabrina is the Environmental Programs Coordinator at the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. Get your poles ready because you won’t want to miss her fishing instruction and demonstration.

On Friday, July 31, Southeastern Guide Dogs are no oridnary dogs! We will meet with a guide dog and learn about how guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled campanion dogs provide freedom, confidence, and hope for people who cannot see, for veterans who have seen too much, and for children facing significant challenges.
