Looking for Outstanding Youth Volunteers who have demonstrated a commitment to the community. The Arc of Tri-Cities is searching for youth ages 15 to 21 who want to make a difference in a child’s life. Through the efforts of youth volunteers, The Arc is able to offer more children with disabilities a chance to participate in summer fun activities.

Desired Attributes in an Summer Camp Counselor

  • Proven experience volunteering in our community
  • Ability to attend training
  • Demonstrated leaership, compassion, and maturity
  • Ability to interact with assigned campers during swim and play times
  • Ability to address personal care needs of assigned campers
  • Pass a Washington State background check
  • Commitment to keep The Arc standards in dress and language
  • Willingness to write a one page essay on your experience

Partners n Pals

  • 9 Week camp serving ages 6-21
  • Trainings will be afterschool starting on June 18th, June 21st, and June 22nd.
  • Camp begins June 23rd
  • Camp Hours 10:00am-3:00 pm Monday-Friday
  • Educational Stipend $425 for 4-week commitment, $525 for 5 weeks, or $625 for 6 weeks.

How do I apply?

  • COMPLETE THE APPLICATION BELOW!
  • After The Arc of Tri-Cities reviews your application within 72 hours after submittal you will receive an email accepting or declining your application. If accepted you will be invited to schedule an interview with The Arc—a link will be emailed to you to schedule your interview online.
  • Bring a letter of recommendation to your interview from a teacher, mentor, someone you have           volunteered for.

How are Summer Camp Counselors selected?

  • Summer Camp Counselors are selected based on ability to serve campers, attend all trainings, fulfill committed time requirements, and service experience.

What if I want to volunteer more weeks?

  • Selected Summer Camp Counselors are more than welcome to sign up for additional weeks on a volunteer basis. We encourage all of your volunteers to attend as many weeks as possible!

What other requirements should I be aware of?

  • All Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for their own trainsporation to and from The Arc of Tri-Cities offices
  • Failure to show up on committed days will require make-up-days to be served, to be approved in advance by the Site Director
  • All Summer Camp Counselors are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to the begining of camp every day at their assigned site
  • Partners N Pals Summer Camp Counselors must attend a weekly Monday Morning Meeting via Zoom
  • Summer Camp Counselors are asked to write a one page essay on their experience
  • Stipends are awarded after completion of committed weeks and receipt of a one page essay
  • Summer Camp Counselors are required to turn in Essays before their last day of service and no later than August 20th.

Stipends for Partners N Pals

Stipends vary depending on positions and length of service. Only one, three (3) day can be counted towards the commitment.

Each summer Camp counselor will recieve a stipend based on their contract agreement. if during camp you would like to extend your contract a week please talk to the Site Director. 

Stipend checks are mailed two weeks out after completion of time and submittal of the essay.

Partners N' Pals camp is

  • $425 for 4 week commitment
  • $525 for 5 week commitment
  • $625 for 6 week commitment

COVID-19 Info

We are asking all volunteers, staff, campers and parents to partner with us in helping navigate through the changes and challenges presented bt Covid-19.

 Covid Procedures and Policies include;

  • Zoom and limited in-person training and meetings
  • Masks will be mandatory for all staff and volunteers to wear unless swimming in the pool or during water play. Masks will be encouraged for campers, but not required.
  • Transportation is limited to only 2 campers per vehicle. We will be using a shuttle system and camp sites will be more centralized.
  • Disinfecting of vehicles and frequently touched surfaces or objects.
  • Everyday each staff, CIT and volunteer will need to check-in, take their temp. and symptom check.
  • Social distancing is encouraged but we can't gaurantee it due to the safety and personal care needs of the population we serve.
  • Camp will be held mostly outdoors
  • Limited gatherings with the entire camp as a whole

Exposure

  • Please do not attend camp if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms or have come in contact with someone with COVID-19. If you are returning from vacation where you are at higher risk of exposure (for example: traveling using public transportation such as flyig, riding the train, or bus, high populated or crowded events such as Disneyland) please follow the CDC guidelines to either quarentine or recieve a COVID test before returning to camp. 
Register Now! The Arc of Tri-Cities will start interviews May 17th. Once your application has been sent in and screened, we will contact you to set up an interview time.
