Pastoral Ministry Licensing School (PMLS) is designed to help prepare those who want to serve as licensed pastors.  It is the first step in the United Methodist Course of Study.  Those who successfully complete PMLS and are recommended by their District Committee on Ministry (DCOM) are eligible to receive a License for Pastoral Ministry when the Bishop appoints them.  

 To register for PMLS:

• You must be a Certified Candidate for ministry, having been approved by your District Committee on Ministry.
• Your District Superintendent will be contacted to verify your certification.
• A $75 non-refundable registration fee is required.  
• The REGISTRATION DEADLINE is FEBRUARY 3rd.

After your registration has been processed, you will receive an email containing additional information for the week, including:

• a list of books to order
• faculty assignments, homework and applicable deadlines
• the schedule for PMLS

Other Expenses:

West Virginia Conference candidates pay the $75 registration fee and the cost of books and travel.  The remainder of the PMLS expense is borne by the Board of Ordained Ministry.  Any student for which expenses are prohibitive should contact his or her district superintendent.  

Students from other annual conferences are welcome to attend PMLS.  The cost for non-West Virginia Conference students is $800.  (Half is due at the time of application, with remainder due by April 1, 2017.)

 Location & Schedule:

• PMLS will be held at Bishop Hodges Pastoral Center in Huttonsville, WV.
• The schedule begins with lunch on Saturday, April 29 and ends by 2:30pm on Saturday, May 6.  Attendance is required at all sessions for successful completion.
