Maj. Gen. (ret) Michael Jones last active duty assignment was as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Central Command responsible for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and U.S. military activity in the Middle East and Southwest Asia. Previously he had served as the Director of Operations for U.S. Central Command.
Biography
Maj. Gen. (ret) Michael Jones is a management consultant for The SPECTRUM Group in Alexandria, Virginia, and an independent consultant in Tampa. Previously he had served as the Director of Operations for U.S. Central Command. His other general officer assignments include Commander, Civilian Police Advisory and Assistance Team in Iraq; Deputy Director, Strategic Plans and Policy (J-5) for The Joint Staff in the Pentagon; and Assistant Division Commander, 1st Cavalry Division in Iraq.
Michael was a Career Armor officer, and also served in a variety of command and staff assignments, including as the Operations Officer (G-3), 1st Armored Division and Multi-National Division North in IFOR in Bosnia. He also served at the U.S. Army Armor School as an Armor tactics instructor, and returned to command the Armor leader training unit for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. Other key staff positions include Director, Chief of Staff of the Army Staff Group, and Executive Assistant to the Director of the Joint Staff, and Commander, 2-67 Armor.
