Athletics & Beyond and the Crowley Foundation are proud to present our 2011 boys2MEN workshop Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Montbello High School. This forum is an all-day program for young men, ages 7-18, to learn essential life skills and to be exposed to positive role models and healthy options for future goals. The workshop provides a safe place for boys to get together and build a camaraderie with others which encourages teamwork and confidence. The agenda includes team building, college planning, anger management, and dating and sexual harassment workshops, among others.
These lessons are vitally important for our young men. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it has become increasingly difficult for them to have access to this information. This distressing fact becomes even more alarming when we take into account that 1 in 3 African Americans, 1 in 6 Latinos and 1 in 17 Caucasians born after 2001 will be sent to prison.
This year our boys2MEN workshop will host over 200 young men from various middle and high schools. These young men will be exposed to many practical and inspiring topics, and offered an opportunity to meet and bond with other boys in their communities. This creates a memorable and motivating event which will have a life changing impact. From lessons on how to successfully deal with anger to how to tie a tie, it is a one of a kind experience for all boys, especially those who desperately need direction.
To make this an effective venture, your support will aid in our efforts to promote self-sufficiency, leadership and resources to encourage our young adults to become contributing members of our society.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I know that together we can make a difference in the lives of boys who desperately need our help.
