FSDB Virtual ECC Interactive Learning Series 

The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) is excited to continue our Virtual Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) Interactive Learning Series for children ages 6-13 who are deaf/hard of hearing (D/HH) or blind/visually impaired (B/VI).

Students* who have an active IEP with D/HH or B/VI as their primary exceptionality are eligible to register for these exciting weekend sessions. *This learning series is not currently offered to FSDB students.

The virtual ECC sessions are available at no cost and all registered children will receive materials delivered to their homes for participation via live conferencing and engaging online classroom activities. 

An adult must participate in all activities with your child and register prior to the event. These weekend sessions are available at no cost for eligible Florida students ages 6-13 who are either D/HH or B/VI.

Each lesson is themed differently and led by certified teachers with experience working with students who are D/HH or B/VI.

What are Interactive learning Series? -  Interactive family friendly lessons focused on areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum.

Interactive learning Series Topics: 

 “Family Friendly Game Show”   

Sharing sweet memories while exploring candy using your five senses and participating in a virtual game show to win prizes and make new friends. 

“Lunch Bunch” 

Creating a personal statement/family motto placemat- while learning about others, kitchen safety, table manners and social pragmatics all while dining and making a personal pan pizza.  

 Learning Objectives: 

  • To encourage family conversation, and creativity while promoting good sportsmanship. 
  • To learn, implement and practice kitchen safety and cooking skills.  
  • To use social pragmatics during a meal, conversation, clean-up.  
  • To use independent living skills to complete tasks. 

Non FSDB students in the State of Florida who have an active IEP with D/HH or B/VI as their primary exceptionality are eligible to register for these exciting weekend sessions. All registered children will receive a prepared box of materials delivered to their homes for participation via LIVE conferencing and Google Classroom with additional engaging online classroom activities. All students will have access to Google Classroom for lesson plans, interactive moment content and communication with others to post pictures or comments.   

We will be offering two fall sessions for children who are deaf/hard of hearing (D/HH) or blind/visually impaired (B/VI) ages 6-13. 

The first ECC session will be offered on Oct. 9-10, 2020 for children ages 6-9.

The second ECC session will be offered on Nov. 6-7, 2020 for children ages 10-13.
