Business Concepts/Marketing Strategy - 09/14/2019 - C0019 

Check-In is at 8:45 am with the workshop starting promptly at 9:00 am and concluding by 3:00 pm.

Business Concepts, roughly 9 a.m. - noon,  provides step-by-step guidance in researching your idea, your market, and your competition. At the end of the Business Concept section, you are able to:

  • Identify your target markets
  • Describe your products/services
  • Collect key competitive information to support your feasibility plan

 Marketing Strategy, roughly 12:30 - 3 p.m., provides you with an introduction to marketing methods and tools to maximize your customer reach. This session covers pricing strategies, positioning, the difference between features and benefits, and different marketing strategies. At the end of this session, you will know how to:

  • Outline your marketing strategy
  • Test your marketing message
  • Choose the right sales channel
  • Exercise your marketing strategy

You may bring your lunch, or go out to one of the many eating places within a 5 minute walk.

Ed DoeringEd Doering has 30 years experience in all aspects of marketing plus competitive analysis, forecasting, budget analysis, etc.  Burroughs, Sprint and Black Hills Energy prospered.  BBA/MBA from UMKC, Henry Block School Business and a SCORE-KC Certified Mentor. 

Kim Beer.  Kim is a national speaker and advocate for entrepreneurship and small business marketing. She has been an entrepreneur for over 25 years, soon to celebrate her 20th year as president of the small business marketing firm Midnight Productions, Inc. She will provide an overview of how small businesses can use Social Media in this workshop.

This is the second Workshop in the three part series "Simple Steps to Starting Your Business".  Workshop 1 - Startup Basics and Workshop 3 - Financial Statement Basics/Projection and Funding Sources.
