This program is intended for litigation attorneys (defense or plaintiff’s counsel), or any other attorneys, who are interested in better understanding the purpose and impact of insurer reservation of rights letters (“ROR”). The program will answer the following questions: What is an ROR and what should/must they include? What may be the consequences of an insurer’s failure to provide a comprehensive ROR? Are insureds entitled to independent counsel when an ROR has been issued? What impact can an ROR have on litigation and settlement? What, if any, precautions should defense counsel take to protect clients when an ROR has been issued? When should coverage counsel be involved and what role can they play?
