Childcare Information

Only available at YAR: Refined With Age

We want to make this retreat Childcareas accessible and inviting to parents with young children. We have housing for families with children and will schedule our time together in ways that will allow parents to be parents. Limited childcare will be available during the day to help you participate fully in the retreat. We are asking parents to contribute $10 per child so we don’t have to ask the childcare providers to pay to attend the retreat.
Y.A.R. 2012: One Retreat, Two Weekends!

Is your life's journey over booked? Between jobs, applying for grad school/jobs, children, dating, planning weddings, finals, volunteering, and so much more -- when do we ever get to pause and enjoy life's blessings? Do we ever have the time to stop and consider where we have been, settle into where we are, so that we can move forward with a sense of direction?

Join us for a YAR and take time to ponder life's journey, worship, play, and just be. There will be workshops, discussion groups, time to chill, and lots of fellowships with other young adults.

Two weekends are being offered this year which focus on two different life stages. Choose what best fits where you are in life today! If you have any questions, please email Irene at idemaris@pnwumc.org and we can help you discern your best fit.

Refined With Age: April 13-15, 2012
25-ish to 35-ish: This weekend will be geared toward young adults settling into careers, relationships, and/or families. Childcare is provided at this retreat.

Students & Early Career: April 20-22, 2012
18+ to 25-ish: This weekend will be designed for college students and those beginning careers and/or relationships.

Our Speaker

DJ del Rosario

Rev. DJ del Rosario (@pastordj) met his best friend and wife Elaine in seminary. They have three amazing daughters Sage (3 years old), and twins Hazel and Scarlett (almost 2 years old). He loves a great cup of coffee, social media and technology. He loves Apple products almost as much as Bishop Grant Hagiya...almost.

DJ was ordained as an elder in 2009. He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference. Since serminary he has served at Faith UMC (Sammamish) and Lynden UMC. He currently serves at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry as the Director of Young Adult Ministries Discernment and Enlistment. He also serves as the Executive Director of Spark12.org (http://Spark12.org, @spark12org). He went to the University of Washington (Go Huskies!) for his undergraduate education and Princeton Theological Seminary for a Masters in Divinity.

Scholarship Information

It is important to us that everyone who would like to come to Y.A.R. is able to come. We have worked hard to plan a good retreat and we are confident that it will be a great weekend. While we encourage everyone to consider how much they can pay, we hope no one will allow money to get in their way!

The Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry is sponsoring $50 scholarships for students at any institution of higher education who need financial assistance to attend this retreat! The Office of Connectional Ministries is providing $20 to $50 scholarships to non-student young adults to help bring their cost down too! With the help of both groups, we are able to bring costs down to a very reasonable $35 for the entire weekend!
