Guests of Honor – Barry & Elissa Finkelstein

Barry and Elissa Finkelstein moved to Teaneck ten years ago and together with their wonderful children, Zahava, Meir, Tehila, Rina, Racheli, Tali, Elisheva and Yosef, continuously contribute and participate in various functions for our Shul and community.

Barry’s dedication to learning and Torah is truly inspiring and a perfect example of living a life of Torah U’Maddah. While being a respected physician, he also spends a great deal of time and effort to support and grow the learning in our shul.  He has co-chaired our Adult Education Committee, is a steady presence in our bais medrash, and gives the Daf Yomi shiur on a regular basis. In addition, he is one of our seasoned baalei tokea and baalei kriya.  Through his efforts as RYNJ's former basketball coach, he also has connected with many of our young men.

Elissa has served on our shul nominating committee for several years. Through her work at RYNJ as a Speech and Language Pathologist and coordinator of the literacy program, she has impacted the children in our community for many years and wish her many more years of continued success.

The Finkelstein children continuously give us much nachas. They daven beautifully in shul and actively participate in our youth programs.  Zahava has been giving shiurim to our high school girls for several years and now coordinates our Teen Zone girls' events.  Meir learns regularly in our bais medrash as well as coordinates and delivers shiurim to our teenage boys.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to thank Barry and Elissa for their dedication to Beth Abraham.

Max Sternbach Service Award – Steven Jacobs

We are delighted to present this year’s Max Sternbach Service Award to a very special and well-deserving member, Steven Jacobs. Since joining our shul over 15 years ago, Steven has served our kehillah and community in many ways and is always willing to help out with any project no matter how big or small.

Steven has had a hand in many crucial shul projects. He served on the Board of Directors for three years and continues to serve as the Gabbai in the Social Hall Minyan during the Yamim Noraim. His affiliation with our shul has been literally enlightening, in that he was responsible for setting the lights in shul for Shabbos and Yom Tov and responsible for repairing the ceiling lighting in the Main Sanctuary for many years. Steven’s involvement in tzarchei tzibbur, along with his wife Janice, extends to many other community causes including Yeshivat Noam.   His active assistance in various aspects of the construction of the original Yeshivat Noam building in Bergenfield and other school projects has been vital to its success. We are thankful to have the opportunity to show our hakaros hatov to Steven by honoring him with the Max Sternbach Service Award.

Our dinner and journal committees are hard at work to plan a meaningful evening of entertainment and camaraderie.  Scroll of Honor form is enclosed.  Again this year, we have established the goal of having every member attend our dinner.  Let’s show our appreciation for our honorees by fulfilling this goal.
