Part I:  Foundations of CBCT Imaging for Implant Planning and Surgical Guides
8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

  • CBCT for Implant Planning and Surgical Guides  10:15 – 11:45 a.m.

Course Description:
Dr. Douglas Chenin helps to clarify questions surrounding implants such as “Where to start?” or “What anatomy to look at?” and “What surgical guide to use?” and much more.  This course designed to help provide the foundations necessary to approach implant placement in a methodical manner.

Course Objectives:
At the end of this self-instructional educational activity the participant will be able to:

  • Conceptualize how CBCT imaging enhances the diagnostic potential and accuracy of implant planning beyond traditional 2D images.
  • Assess and visualize patient CBCT data properly in 3D and 2D cross-sections for virtual implant planning and to summarize which anatomical structures are critical to examine.
  • Discuss the terminology, capabilities, and tools needed for the various levels of control that surgical guides offer.

Part II:  Airway Imaging, Anatomy and Dental Sleep Medicine
12 -1 p.m.

Course Description:
In this lecture Dr. Douglas Chenin gives a colorful introduction to Dental Sleep Medicine with a dental anatomy focus. The lecture covers terms, concepts and the diagnostic parameters of sleep apnea. This lecture also discusses the role of 3D cone-beam imaging treating patients with sleep apnea and shows multiple cases with this advanced imaging modality. The lecture will also review signs, symptoms and screening tools for dentists and team-members to help identify patients who are at risk for obstructive sleep apnea. This lecture is a great introduction to dental sleep medicine and is ideal for anybody interested in learning more on this topic. 

Course Objectives:

  • To learn the terminology, signs, symptoms, and pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea in order to help identify patients who are at risk.
