Please join the Chicago Freedom School for a very special event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Children's March.
On May 2nd 1963, more than a thousand black children and youth gathered at the 16th street Baptist Church to begin an unprecedented march in downtown Birmingham Alabama, facing police lines and arrests. The "Children's Crusade" was a pivotal moment in the history of the Civil Rights Movement.
Join us for a screening of the film "Mighty Times: The Children's March" followed by a panel discussion, facilitated by Mariame Kaba, with contemporary Chicago youth activists.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVP is required.
