By participating in a youth drama class, your child may experience teamwork, body and mind awareness, communication skills, and a thrill of performing on stage, which can trigger confidence, empathy, giggles, spontaneous creativity, and extreme fun.  Common side effects of youth drama enrichment programming associated with Youth Improv, the study of the English Dialects, or singing in Chorus, can cause what is commonly known as "the bug" (as in, "she got the bug").  Please be prepared.

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

CAMP 1 ~ The Practice & The Godfather (Shakespeare) – A part of The Actor’s Toolbox

The Practice (Contextual Techniques): This workshop is about the text. We look for clues from modern/classical text and research to develop a character. Through several acting theories we will learn how to pick up a text, understand and perform the chosen text with confidence. This workshop is perfect for those who are beginners or experienced actors. This workshop also helps to gain audition skills. Must be able to read. Taught by Kytriena Payseno

The GodFather (Shakespeare): This workshop will introduce the actor to Shakespeare’s legacy in poetry and drama. Participants will learn about the secret code Shakespeare left for the actor, and what makes this man so important 400 years later. Must be able to read.  Taught by Kytriena Payseno

CAMP 2 ~ Body Talks & Playing with Drama – A Part of the Actor’s Toolbox

Body Talks (Physical Theatre/Stage Movement): This workshop is all about listening to our bodies, and following our impulse. Through physical exercises participants will learn to unleash the body, and just let the body move. Through this exploration, participants learn to tell a story with no words. Taught by Kytriena Payseno

Playing with Drama- (Creative Drama): This workshop is all about playing, literally we will play theatre games all day. Actors need to play to get the creative juices following! Taught by Kytriena Payseno

CAMP 3 ~ Write Your Own Monologue: In this workshop you will step into the shoes (or paws or claws) of your favorite character from a movie, television or stage show, and provide your own creative twist! Learn the art of writing a monologue in the voice of a character you know pretty well… or do you?  Delve into the possibilities of your characters past, present or future — write and perform an original monologue to tell their story! Taught by Jennifer Brown

CAMP 4 ~ Dr. Who Drama Club: Together we will create an original Dr. Who skit inspired by the stories of The Doctor. Together, participants will explore some of the infinite possibilities and arcs of The Doctor’s journey and come up with our own original scene to play!  This camp is a mix of fan club, writers club, and drama club.  DWDC will be guided by Daena Bleu Santoyo

CAMP 5 Tots Theatre Camp – Children play and learn drama games in this fun introduction to theatre, with imaginative play, music and movement! Taught by Rachel Hunt
