October 21 Leadership Summit and Stated Meeting
Commissioners and other members of Cherokee Presbytery are invited to the October 21 Leadership Summit and Stated Meeting at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Marietta, Georgia. Our preacher and workshop leader for the day will be Dr. William Yoo of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur.
Other highlights for the day will include:
- news of a proposed building project for Faith Presbyterian Church of the North Georgia Mountains
- an introduction to Matt Milford, recently hired Outreach Fellow for the new (re)Creation program which will help several Cherokee Presbytery congregations engage the recreation enthusiasts who come to the parks, lakes, and trails of Northwest Georgia
- remember the Ruling and Teaching Elders of Cherokee Presbytery who have joined the Church Triumphant
- hear words from our ministry team moderators about their work connecting the congregations of our presbytery and learn how you and your church can become more involved in our shared ministry
- elect our Commissioners to the 223rd General Assembly in St. Louis, MO in June 2018
- connect with others in the presbytery who are eager to travel to hurricane affected areas for relief work
- learn from William Yoo about how we can still gain wisdom and insight from Martin Luther and other reformers for the mission and ministry of the church in the 21st Century as we mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation
The day's offering will benefit Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and lunch is being prepared by members of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Child care is available by advance registration. Please reserve a spot for your child no later than noon on October 19th.
