An immersive arts and science lab- Ideal for ages 9-12
When the 16th century Jesuit Priest Matteo Ricci arrived in China to teach, he brought with him the medieval European practice of memory palaces and "wayfinding."
Today neuroscientists recognize wayfinding as a powerful practice to grow learning and memory and key to growing healthy, happy brains!
In HIPPOCAMPUS HUTS AND MEMORY PALACES, we lead young Inventios! (our code word for "children") on a journey of wayfinding and spatial design of large and small spaces to grow imagination, skills and brains. They will be encouraged to explore their creative and scientific minds, tap and test spatial memory circuits as well as collect, examine and design with found materials from immediate surroundings.
Each child will have the chance to discover famous palaces and hut projects from around the world to inspire design thinking and spatial memory challenges. Special observational and attention skills will be gamified to empower wayfinding solutions. Best of all children will have the unique chance to work collaboratively with pioneers from architecture and neuroscience, who will lead the journey and model how to bring the art and neuroscience together to create amazing memory palaces and hippocampus huts!
