Working Women's Wednesday

Brown Bag Series

“One Working Woman:
Little Stories from a Microbiologist”

Dr. Mindy Nye

Labcorp Vice President, Esoteric Business Units

Dr. Nye is Labcorp Vice President and General Manager for the Center for Esoteric Testing laboratory on York Court in Burlington.  Dr Nye is a board-certified medical technologist and a diplomate of the American Board of Medical and Public Health Microbiology. She earned a PhD in microbiology and immunology from Dartmouth College, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical and public health microbiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.  Her undergraduate degree in Medical Laboratory Science is from the University of Vermont.

Dr. Nye’s career with Labcorp began in 2005 as a Technical Director for microbiology.  Her tenure as a leading Labcorp scientist progressed with increasing technical responsibility in infectious diseases and a specific focus on Women’s Health and molecular diagnostics.  She has now transitioned to a leadership role with responsibility for two major business units and approximately 1400 Labcorp team members across the US.

Dr. Nye is married with one teenaged son.  She is passionate about career and leadership development, especially for women in the sciences; she credits her career path to a Women in Science project intended to provide introductory research opportunities to undergraduate women and the influential mentor she was partnered with.
