Working Women's Wednesday welcomes

our June Speaker:

Tami Kress

Executive Director, Studio 1

Tamra Clayson Kress (Tami) has her Master’s Degree in theatre from Idaho State University. She was a member of a professional summer stock theatre company for ten years—acting as manager for two years.  She taught high school for nine years where she was selected as the District Teacher of the Year and the State of Idaho Drama Teacher of the Year. While teaching, she assisted in the conceptualization through construction of the state-of-the-art American Falls High School Fine Arts Center and served as director there. Tami also taught at Idaho State University for four years.

In July 2013 Tami established Studio 1 as the Executive Director in Burlington, NC. After ten seasons Studio 1 has become a successful community theatre with Main Stage shows, youth productions, an array of classes, summer camps, as well as many other events. In 2021 Tami took on the reestablishment of Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre in Snow Camp, NC. Also in 2021, Studio 1 received the NCTC Outstanding Community Theatre Award.

Over the course of Tami’s theatre career, she has directed over 80 productions and acted in over 40 productions. Tami is excited about what Studio 1 and Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre will bring to Alamance County through the arts. Tami’s greatest accomplishments are her two beautiful daughters.
