BBQ for the Birds:

Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory's Annual Picnic

Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory logo Celebrate fall colors, harvest and migration with RMBO as we mark our 25th anniversary in 2013. Join us at the Old Stone House on Oct. 5 for the BBQ for the Birds, RMBO's annual picnic. It's always a fun, birdy event! There's something for everybody: bird banding, bird walks, kids' activities, live raptors, live music, workshops, exhibitors, silent and live auctions, and a delicious harvest-themed lunch. RMBO's Old Stone House is located on the shores of beautiful Barr Lake, one of the top birding spots in the Rockies and a great place to explore during fall migration.

Greg MillerPlus, Greg Miller, whose participation in a birding competition was portrayed in the book and film The Big Year, will lead a walk at 7 a.m. (bright and early!) and share funny, poignant stories during a special presentation titled "My Big Year." After lunch, Greg will hold a workshop on using eBird with RMBO biologist Jeff Birek.

Noppadol PaothongWe're also excited to announce a unique opportunity to brush up on your photography skills with award-winning photographer Noppadol Paothong, whose work is featured in the book Save the Last Dance: A Story of North American Grassland Grouse. Noppadol will present a photo workshop at 9 a.m. and be on hand to judge our 2013 Photo Contest. No pressure to those who've entered the contest!
