Northern New Mexico RoboRAVE Rally

Dear Educator,

I'm writing to let you know that we will be hosting the 2nd Annual RoboRAVE Rally at Northern New Mexico College on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Northern NM Community College in Española. The Rally is a Practice Day for the 13th annual RoboRAVE International in Albuquerque, NM April 30 - May 2, 2015.

At the Rally, kids will compete with robots in challenges for beginning skill levels all the way to advanced levels, programming robots to deliver ping pong balls, knock over "knights," move through mazes, and much more.

While kids are practicing 21st century skills like engineering and programming, they'll feel like they're at a sports event, with nail-biting excitement, crowds cheering, and above all, FUN.

There will be plenty of help on hand where students will help each other troubleshoot their robots, and they can get even more assistance at a workshop tailored for their needs prior to the event.  If you have a group of ten or more, you can schedule a free robotics workshop at your school.  Find out more about that here PLAYSHOP INFO. RoboRAVE International also has robot kits that can be rented, email amber@gotoif.org or call (505) 867-3702 for more info.  If you are a school in Northern New Mexico who has never participated in RoboRAVE there may also be an opportunity to receive a kit for your school with the understanding that you will participate in competitions.

Our new Aerial Response challenge broadens the learning for individuals with an interest in drone technology. Drones and other aerial devices are being utilized by ranchers, law enforcement, NASA and varying technological fields everyday. The drones will be piloted through a challenging course complete with obstacles and will be required to conduct tasks that require precise movement and teamwork in order to navigate through the course.

The Rally is open to all students in Rio Arriba, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Mora, San Miguel, Sandoval and Taos County.

This year’s Rally will also include college teams from throughout Northern New Mexico.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your students at RoboRAVE Rally 2015!

Sincerely,

Janelle Vigil-Maestas
