  2016 ANNUAL CONFERENCE: SENSING HISTORY

On Friday, October 28, Greater Hudson Heritage Network will hold its 2016 Annual Conference at Locust Grove Estate in Poughkeepsie, New York.  This annual conference attracts approximately 200 museum professionals from throughout the Hudson Valley and Metropolitan region.  This year’s conference theme is Sensing History:  Using the Senses to Access History, Engage Audiences and Inspire our Future.  We will discover and share strategies for using sound, taste, scent, touch, and sight to engage audiences in heritage collections and environments. Workshops and panels will feature approaches such as storytelling, foodways, and tactile engagement. Other presentations will show how heritage sites have inspired contemporary art and performances. Join us and explore opportunities to connect the story of your site to issues of today and action for the future!

This year's Keynote Presentation will be given by Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk. Selected "Best Storyteller in the Hudson Valley," Jonathan’s been featured CBS Sunday Morning, The National Geographic Channel, and the O’Reilly Factor - and we are thrilled to welcome him!

The 2016 Annual Conference will also feature break-out presentations by your peers; office hours that give you the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from NYSCA, NYCH, Preservation League of NYS, Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and the C2CNYS Circuit Riders; breakfast; networking luncheon; full-day exhibitor hall; the Awards for Excellence ceremony; and more!
