INTERACTIVE COOKING DINNER

Join us for an evening of African gourmet food and friends featuring award-winning South African wines, an interactive safari-inspired dining experience with one of Africa’s top safari lodge chefs, and a celebration of the All Heart Fund, a Sarasota-based initiative that is helping to deliver education technology to rural, low-income South African schoolchildren.

Be prepared to COOK table-side as "chefs", taking turns cooking at each table! Guests follow along with Chef Anna's simple recipe instructions and prepare each course with pre-measured ingredients. Fabulous South African wines will be served alongside each of the four courses too!

Held bi-annually in Sarasota since 2013, Safari Sarasota is presented as a series of events in support of the All Heart Fund, established in honor of Leanna Knopik, at South Africa's Good Work Foundation. Leanna was a 16 year-old Sarasota native who passed away a year after visiting some of South Africa's most remote communites. It had been Leanna's dream and mission in life to support children and education in South Africa. The Good Work Foundation operates four digital learning campuses in rural South Africa to date – including the new Justicia Digital Learning Campus which was funded in large part by the All Heart Fund – and provides digital and English literacy training to over 5000 adults and children per week.

Safari Sarasota … All Heart Fund

The All Heart Fund is a fundraising arm of the award-winning South African based nonprofit, Good Work Foundation. Its purpose is to raise funds that create high-impact digital learning experiences for Africans living in rural areas, delivering skills that enable them to interact meaningfully with a digital world.  Londolozi Game Reserve Executive Chef Anna Ridgewell and Kate Groch, CEO and Co-Founder of the Good Work Foundation and curator of the All Heart Fund, will journey from South Africa to host an interactive dining experience in the Michael’s On East Ballroom.  Michael’s On East is thrilled to host this special opportunity for guests to enjoy the flavors of the historic Spice Route paired with some of South Africa's finest wines.

Special Friendships in South Africa

Michael and Terri Klauber have become close with Chef Anna, the Varty family and the entire Good Work Foundation team in South Africa through a shared passion for this important cause and enthusiasm for the magical land of South Africa explored bi-annually on Gulf Coast Connoisseur Club journeys.

Chef Anna, Terri & Michael visited the newest school and school director Linky Nkuna sponsored by the All Heart Fund in July!
