The New York State Surety Bond Assistance Program Provides MWBE and small business contractors with training, technical assistance and credit support to secure surety bonds necessary for state contracts. Businesses that have never been bonded or require increased bonding capacity will benefit from this statewide program.
April 23rd - Bonding and Insurance: How to begin the process of obtaining a bond, the rule of the agent/producer and underwriter, the prequalification process, the cost of bonding, and how to develop a surety bond relationship.
April 30th - Construction Accounting for Contractors: An introduction to the "business" side of your construction business.
May 7th - How to Build and Maintain a Banking Relationship
May 14th - Dispute Resolution and Claims: Areas of discussion will include mechanics liens and the claims process, arbitration, construction contracts, and litigation.
May 21st - Project Management and Field Operations: Project planning methods, job costing and scheduling, subcontractor management, expediting change orders, and measuring performance.
May 28th - Bidding and Estimating: Areas of discussion will include formulas for estimating and planning construction projects, submittal requirements and preparing bid documents.
