The Journey of the Heart weekend will be filled with love, hope, peace, comfort and encouragement.

The Parent's Dinner starts out Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm with two guest speakers sharing insights on grief and the tools with which to cope.

John DelHousaye's message is "Christ Identified with Your Suffering" John is an associate professor of New Testament at Phoenix Seminary and an elder at Redemption Alhambra. He is married to Tiffany, and they have three children: Livia (17), Joslyn (14), and Tate (8). Much of his work has been on the life of Christ, prayer, and discipleship.

Dr. Barney M. Davis, Jr., M.D. will be speaking on the topic of Suicide: What we know about causes, what we experience as consequences, and how to deal with the lingering “Why?” Dr. Barney is a physician, specializing in psychiatry; raised in Texas and obtaining his medical training there, he has practiced in Texas, Maryland, South Carolina, and (current home) Arizona. He and his late wife Karen began providing counseling and medical services to missionaries serving internationally almost thirty years ago; after Karen’s death in 2015, Barney resumed provision of services on the field in Kenya and Indonesia, plus maintaining video contact with missionaries in many other lands, through the ministry of GRC (www.godspeedresources.org). He is an officer in the Christian Medical Association Psychiatry Section, has additional training in Biblical Counseling, and is a member of Northwest Community Church in Phoenix. Barney has experience dealing with issues of trauma, loss, grief, transition, and neuropsychiatry.

Saturday the moms will also have a special time of caring, sharing, bonding, and meeting new friends walking on the same road and journey towards healing. There will be inspirational speakers sharing insights on grief and the tools with which to cope and special designed workshops:

"Tasks of Grief - Movements of the Healing Process" presented by Diane Lee, MSW, LCSW.  This will be a gathering to gain a better understanding of the grief journey.  The discussion will focus on the movements of healing based on the Four Tasks of Mourning - a model developed by J. William Worden, professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School. It will also include insights as to the various styles of grieving among bereaved persons.  Diane has a Master of Counseling degree and works as a bereavement counselor with Hospice of the Valley. As a grief counselor, she works with loved ones who have experienced loss by death, as well as the many accompanying losses that this tremendous life change brings with it. She counsels both adults and children, facilitates an ongoing grief support group,along with 6-week groups specific to spousal loss, daughters who have lost mothers, and the loss of an adult child.  Diane has a Master of Counseling degree and works as a bereavement counselor with Hospice of the Valley. As a grief counselor, she works with loved ones who have experienced loss by death, as well as the many accompanying losses that this tremendous life change brings with it. She counsels both adults and children, facilitates an ongoing grief support group,along with 6-week groups specific to spousal loss, daughters who have lost mothers, and the loss of an adult child.

"Dealing With Family Grief" presented by Wayne & Bev Lehsten  Wayne and Bev have been married 61 years.They have 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Their oldest daughter died of a brain tumor when she was 25 yrs. old. They were in full time ministry for 50 years, the last 20 at Scottsdale Bible Church.  They currently spend their time mentoring, discipling and marriage counseling.

"Marriage" presented by Daisy Catchings-Shader  Daisy is the co-founder and Director of Umbrella Ministries.  She is an inspirational and motivational speaker for women's luncheons and conferences throughout the United States. She is the author of two books…"Under God’s Umbrella" and "In Heaven".  Daisy will be sharing God's design for marriage, plus, ways of restoring God's design and ways to build greater intimacy, humor, commitment, contentment and joy in your marriage.

The conference will be a special time of celebrating and remembering our children by a beautiful candlelight service and Heaven-bound balloon release.
