Peer Programs Session #2 - Peer Math and Peer Money Educator Training 

What is a Peer Math Educator?

A Peer Math Educator is a parent/guardian who is interested in learning and sharing information with other adults about the importance of mathematics in helping a child be successful in life.

What Does a Peer Math Educator do?

  • Learn how easy it is to increase a child’s success in school
  • Learn information designed to help parents understand the importance of increasing a child’s competence and confidence in math
  • Learn fun and engaging activities to make math more accessible and enjoyable
  • Share the excitement with other parents after attending training

What is a Peer Money Educator?

A Peer Money Educator is a parent/guardian who is interested in learning and sharing information with other adults about the importance of increasing savings behaviors to build financial capability for themselves and their families.

What Does a Peer Money Educator Do?

  • Learn fun and engaging activities to promote financial stability and wellness
  • Learn information designed to help parents and children understand the importance of financial literacy and savings
  • Share the excitement and fun with other parents after attending training

What do Peer Math Educators gain from this program?

  • Engaging activities and strategies to increase math competence
  • Knowledge to empower yourself and your family
  • Leadership and advocacy skills
  • New friends and a chance to build connections within your community

Peer Math Educators will receive training in math, experience teaching groups of adults, and a certificate of participation.  This is a leadership opportunity to help parents grow.  It’s also a great job to add to their resume.

Who does the program serve?

Peer Programs serves all Head Start, Early Head Start and ECEAP families. Peer Programs is offered in English and Spanish, with interpreters available for other languages.

What is the time commitment?

Peer Math and Peer Money Educators spend about 20 hours in training.  After the training, Peer Math and Peer Money Educators are expected to complete at least 3 activities/presentations at their own and/or other sites.
