WHAT

Gain the skills & core competencies to be a Community Health Worker (CHW) in this hybrid online/in-person class. A frontline public health worker who is a trusted member of the community with a close understanding of the North Country, CHW's serve as liaison between the patient and healthcare and social services to facilitate access to care and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery.

***CHW Training Workshop includes two-day Motivational Interviewing (MI) Training. In addition to the scheduled in-person Monday class meetings listed (above), participants MUST attend MI training, and have the option to select either set of the following available MI class dates:

Training binder, Foundations for Community Health Workers (textbook), access to online modules

Requirements

  • Attend: 6 in-person class sessions, two-day MI Training 
  • Complete assigned reading and online modules between scheduled classes
  • Must have computer/internet access, high school diploma, and be 18 or older
