WHO: This training is for Northern Grafton and Coos Counties, including but not limited to providers of health and behavioral health services, any health or behavioral health care provider that prescribes medication including primary care, oral health, womens health, etc., pharmacists; MAT program staff; program administrators; practice managers, ED staff ; Substance Use Disorder (SUD) prevention, treatment and recovery focused program management.

WHAT: This presentation will provide an update and overview of the NH Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), including the goals of a PDMP from a ‘big picture’ view and how that has been translated for NH, the 49th State to implement such a program; the opportunities the PDMP can provide as an effective tool to identify and prevent drug misuse, while focused on client-centered care and confidentiality; the overview and value of legislative requirements; current utilization rates in our region; and best practice use of the platform.

Learning Objectives

Following the program, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the implementation and development of the NH PDMP
  • Identify the requirements and restrictions from a legislative perspective
  • Describe the collection, analysis, and reporting of information on the prescribing, dispensing, and use of controlled substances
  • Determine the value and application of the program
  • Evaluate the PDMP impact on overdose deaths
