WHAT

Gain the skills & core competencies to work as a Community Health Worker (CHW) or in other roles under the umbrella of Community Health, e.g.

  Patient Navigator, Health Assister, Recovery Coach, Outreach Worker, Home Visitor, Patient Advisor, Patient Advocate. 

This 9-week course is offered through combined virtual interactive classroom and independent off-line study, with self-paced homework.

• Effective communication
• Care coordination
• CHW role, scope, and ethics
• Motivational Interviewing (MI) 
  
• Setting boundaries
• Equity and advocacy
• Client-centered practice
• Social Determinants of Health

WHEN

Class Meeting Dates & Times

Thursdays @ 9 AM - 3:30 PM on the following dates: 

• Mar: 30
• April: 6, 13*, 20*, 27,
• May: 4, 11, 18, 25
  
  (*Motivational Interviewing (MI) Training takes place on April 13 &20)

REQUIREMENTS

• Attend: 9 total virtual class sessions, including two-day MI Training (MI training dates on Jan 26 & Feb 2 are mandatory for succesful completion of course)
• Complete assigned readings and assignments between scheduled classes
• Must have computer/internet access, ability to use Zoom, and be 18 or older 

REGISTRATION FEE

• The cost of the NCHC CHW Training is $1150/per participant. Currently, there are full scholarships available for all eligible participants! 

Full scholarships are currently available for all participants who reside in NH or serve NH community members. Serious applicants only, as scholarship spots may be limited, please only register if you can fulfill the time requirements for this 9 week course. You may only apply for a scholarship once, if you do not fulfill the requirements of the class and have attended on a scholarship, this offer will no longer be available to use in the future.
