Train to become a Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) to help initiate and sustain an individual or family in their recovery from substance use disorder/addiction. This live Zoom training series is for anyone who is involved in the recovery initiation of others and/or are in sustained recovery themselves.

The CRSW Training Series provides the opportunity to register for one, some, or all 4 courses required to earn the CRSW certification. This Virtual CRSW Series offers the experience of an in-person training with the flexibility to complete many activities on your own schedule. Training participants are required to attend all scheduled ZOOM sessions as well as individual and small group activities in Moodle.

Recovery Coach Academy

Dates: March 6 - 24 (Mon, Wed, Fri): 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17. 20, 22, 24

Following Peer Recovery Coach training, participants will be able to fulfill the following:

• Describe Recovery Coach role and functions
• List the core components, core values, and guiding principles of recovery
• Build skills to enhance relationships
• Explore many dimensions of recovery and recovery coaching
• Discover attitudes about self-disclosure and sharing your story
• Understand the stages of recovery
• Describe the Stages of Change and its application
• Increase awareness of culture, power, and privilege
• Address ethical and boundary issues
• Experience recovery wellness planning

This course is pre-approved for 30 CEs by the Connecticut Certification Board and NH Board of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors. Professional Practice Categories of Competence: 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 15 & 18. Ethical Considerations

Objectives
Following Ethical Considerations training, participants will understand:

• How to “stay in your lane” as a recovery coach
• Issues around relationship boundaries and role clarity
• The ethical decision-making process
• How to develop guidelines for ethical decisions: Assess, Plan, Implement, Evaluate
• Confidentiality issues with respect to treatment and other healthcare providers, and non-treatment organizations

This course is pre-approved for 16 CEs by the Connecticut Certification Board and NH Board of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors Professional Performance Categories of Competence: 4,5,12,13,15 & 18 Performance domains:IV & V. This training also meets with CPS Educational Domains for the following Professional Performance Categories: 4,5,12,13,15, & 18.

Suicide Prevention

Objectives
Following Suicide Prevention training, participants will:

• Understand suicide, prevalence nationally and worldwide, and ambivalence
• Understand risk and protective factors, safe messaging, and how substance use and mental health relate to suicide
• Learn how to intervene with individuals at-risk, connect them to appropriate resources, and best practices for restricting access to lethal means
• Explain prevention and intervention education and resources, including Zero Suicide approach, Signs of Suicide (SOS), NAMI Connect, Recognize, and Counseling Against Legal Means (CALM)

This course is pre-approved for 6 CEs by the NH Board of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors: 2 CEs for Advocacy, 2 CEs for Recovery/Wellness, 1 CE for Ethics and 1 CE for Mentoring and Education.

HIV/AIDS & Other Infectious Diseases

Dates: June 5, 7, 9 (Mon, Wed, Fri)
Time: 10am - 12pm, each day

Course Overview:

• 3 two-hour ZOOMs/week (M, W, F)
• 6 Hours ZOOM Participation

Objectives
Following HIV and Other Infectious Diseases training, participants will be able to:

• Explain the disease transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Hepatitis C (HCV), and Hepatitis B (HBV).
• Describe the process and benefits of testing for HIV/AIDS, HCV, and HBV.
• Identify the disease progression for HIV/AIDS and how to assess clients’ risks along that progression.
• Give examples of ways to support clients in prevention, treatment and diagnosis of HIV/AIDS.
• Recognize the correlation between these diseases and substance use in many clients.
• Give examples of harm-reduction strategies for clients.
• Identify the legal rights for those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
• Describe how recovery support workers can help dispel the culture of stigma related to HIV/AIDS.

This course is pre-approved for 6 CEs by the NH Board of Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselors Professional Performance Categories of Competence: 3,4-8,11,14 & 16 Performance domains: I, II, III & IV.

TRAINER BIOS

Jennifer Goulet, AS, spent four years coordinating for the Multiple Offender Program (MOP) at Tri-County Community Action Program (TCCAP) and discovered a passion for helping those in her community that suffer with Substance Use Disorder (SUD). This employment experience, as well as, personal experiences has led Jennifer to become employed as a Community Health Worker/Recovery Coach (CHW/RC) at the North Country Health Consortium (NCHC) in Littleton, NH. She is currently pursuing her CRSW to realize her commitment in improving the overall health and wellness of all New Hampshire residents that struggle with addiction. It is her belief that the CHW/RC is an essential member of the team in private practices, federally qualified health centers, social services, community settings and public health.

Tina Holmes is a Parent Partner with The Family Resource Center as part of the Strength to Succeed Program. Tina is a Trained Trainer in the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy Model. Tina resides in Groveton, NH and has a passion for helping others and increasing recovery support.
