August 7, 2020: Advanced Periodontal Therapy Part 2 (Webinar)

  •  This program was originally scheduled for a 6 hour program during the Spring 2020 season as an in-peron training. Due to Covid-19, we have elected to reschedule for this new date and transition to a virtual training platform split into two 3 hour programs. Course Description:

During this second part of the two-part course, we will dive deeper by exploring topics that include the multi-faceted treatment planning approach which covers  scheduling and coding, adjuncts to care, and choosing appropriate home care aids. We will examine documentation recommendations for periodontal care and explore strategies for dealing with informed consent and refusal of definitive care. Part one is not a pre-requisite for this second session, but strongly encouraged.

Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss the pros and cons of adjunctive treatments for periodontitis.
2. Understand the evidence concerning different home care modalities. 
3. Implement a step-by-step debridement protocol with proper coding and sequencing.
4. Develop the best approach when patients refuse definitive care for periodontal disease. 

Speaker Information:

Dianne Glasscoe Watterson, RDH, BS, MBA has more than four decades in dentistry. Her business, Watterson Speaking/Consulting LLC, is based in Lexington, NC. Since 1997, Dianne has been published extensively, including authoring two monthly columns in national dental publications- one in Dental Economics called “Practice Wisdom” and the other in RDH called “Staff Rx.” Dianne is a well-known provider of continuing education for dental professionals and has presented for associations and major dental meetings across the US. In addition to serving on the editorial board of RDH magazine, Dianne is a co-author of Foundations of Periodontics for the Dental Hygienist, a text used in many hygiene programs. She has published three books: Manage Your Practice Well; The Consummate Dental Hygienist; and Real World Dental Hygiene which won an Apex Award for publication excellence. Dianne was honored by Dentsply™ as a “Distinguished Dental Professional” in 2005. Also, Dianne was honored by Colgate™ in 2009 and 2010 as a “Key Opinion Leader” and serves on their Oral Health Advisory Board. Dianne has been chosen as a Leader in Consulting/Speaking by Dentistry Today every year since 2006. In addition to being a former faculty member in the dental hygiene program at Guilford Technical Community College, she is a member of Christian Medical/Dental Association, American Association of Dental Office Managers, American Academy of Dental Hygiene, and American Dental Hygienist Association. Dianne and her husband, Dave, live in Lexington, NC and have 4 grown sons and 7 grandchildren.

Evaluation and Certificate:

All attendees are required to register their name and email address on the Webex platform and receive an Attention Rating of 90% or higher in order to receive credits. The Attention Rating is calculated automatically through the Webex system and reported to our team at the conclusion of the program. In order to receive the highest rate possible, stay logged into the training for the duration, do not minimize the training screen, and do not open other screens on top of the training. 

An evaluation will be emailed to you within two business days of the program's completion.  You will need the access code announced at the conclusion of the program in order to complete the evaluation.  Once you complete and submit this evaluation, your certificate will automatically generate to be saved or printed.
