12/7/21 - Riding the COVID Wave: The Long-term Impact of the Pandemic

Course Description:
The long-term impacts of the COVID pandemic continue to evolve. This workshop will discuss the pandemic's longer term impact on the practice of psychotherapy, mental and behavioral health, as well as the impacct on clinicians struggling to provide care under challenging and changing circumstances. We will review changes impacting care delivery and also review the need for clinician resilience to adapt to the changing professional landscape. 

Learning Objectives:
1. State three evidenced-based conclusions related to providing psychotherapy services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. List five strategies to address clinician burnout.
3. Discuss three practice adaptations for providing clinical care during a pandemic.

Speaker Information:

Dr. Victor Welzant is the director of the Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship, and coordinator of psychology for the trauma disorders program at Sheppard Pratt Health System. He is the past Director of the Psychotherapy Training Progam of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and served on that organization's Board of Directors. Victor is also the Director of Education and Training for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, a nonprofit that provides training in crisis support and resilience for Emergency Services Personnel and Health Care Workers. He has lectured and consulted nationally and internationally on trauma treatment, crisis intervention and disaster mental health. 

Victor is a licensed Psychologist in Maryland and has a consulting and clinical practice in Lutherville where he specializes in treatment of trauma and stress related conditions, workplace violence, and threat assessment consulting. He serves as the clinical director os several local peer support teams for law enforcement and the Fire/EMS services. He is the editor in chief of Crisis, Stress and Human Resilience: An International Journal. He serves on the editorial boards of Frontiers in the Psychotherapy of Trauma and Dissociation, and the International Journal of Emergency Mental Health.

Evaluation and Certificate:
The webinar system will track your attendance for the program day. You are expected to attend 90% of the content hour portions (2.0 hours) of the day in order to receive credit. Any attendee who falls below the 90% threshold for attendance will not receive credit for the training. Please plan to log-in to the training using a computer; calling into the training may result is a lower attendance score.

An evaluation will be emailed to attendees who completed the training within two business days of the program’s completion. Certificates will generate upon submission of that evaluation. CHEP does not and will not issue partial credit certificates
