Rock Creek at Lower Leggett
Tennessee Valley Wild Ones members are invited to participate in a spring hike at Rock Creek at Lower Leggett, Sale Creek, TN with Stephan Eselgroth.
Hike details:
This hike should provide us with a display of many different types of native plants including Dwarf Crested Iris, Yellow and other trillium, phlox, Wood sorrel, bluets, star chickweed, several violets, Yellow Trout lily, stonecrop, Doghobble, May apple, Wild geranium, Partridge berry, Pipsissewa, American holly, Carolina Allspice, maple l eaf viburnum, Crossvine and Jessamine. Eastern hemlock, a few pine, Rosebay rhododendron and Mtn Laurel provide an evergreen backdrop. Early leaves of Big-leaf and Umbrella magnolias, American Beech, Red, Striped and Sugar maples, and Sourwood should be there as well as blooms of Dogwood, Serviceberry and Painted buckeye, Paw Paw, Blueberry, Farkleberry and Deerberry.
Meet up will be at 10:00 EST at the Lower Leggett Rd trailhead. A reminder and directions to the meeting location will be emailed to registrants in the week preceding the hike.
Mandatory masks. Distancing precautions required. Bring snacks/water. Hiking poles are helpful, but not necessary. Lunch on your own after hiking. No pets at any of our Wild Ones hikes please.
Limit: 10 participants.
This program is free and open to Tennessee Valley Chapter Wild Ones members, including family.
