CUANM's 2022 Volunteer & Supervisory Committee Training will help volunteers learn more about today’s risks, and their roles and responsibilities to effectively and efficiently support their credit union.

Melia D. Heimbuck from CUANM and Julie Kappenman from the Mountain West Credit Union Association, who authored NCUA’s “The Interim Audit Procedures Workbook” for Supervisory Committees, will lead the training.

Day One: Volunteer Training
Friday, June 10, 2022 from 1pm to 4pm
Understanding today's credit union environment while preparing for tomorrow's, is every volunteer's responsibility…and challenge! Staying on top of examiner expectations, regulatory priorities, ensuring compliance requirements are met, and being aware of potential litigation is critical for guiding and protecting your credit union. Regardless of your role, recognizing, measuring, and monitoring risk is essential to the effective governance of credit union operations. This session will provide you with discussion topics for your board, supervisory and credit committees and information to help you identify and measure risks facing your credit union. Join us for this informative session and walk away knowing you can confidently fulfill your volunteer duties and responsibilities.

Day Two: Supervisory Committee Training
Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 9am to Noon
A strong Supervisory Committee is crucial in every credit union. Understanding the expectations of your role and the credit union's risk areas helps lay the groundwork for a strong committee. This session will give you a deeper understanding of your roles and responsibilities, the regulatory environment, audit plans, error detection, fraud prevention, and handling member complaints. Join us for this discussion and gain the tools you need to help safeguard your member's assets and maintain a successful credit union.
