DESIGN AWARDS RECEPTION:

Thank you so much for your interest and past support of the Cleveland Design Awards. It is our pleasure to announce the 2017 AIA Cleveland Design Awards. This year’s event will be held at the Tenk West Bank on Friday evening, November 10th, 2017. The Tenk West Bank started its life as the Eclipse Iron Works foundry in 1879. The building, expanded twice in the late 1800s, served as the longtime home of Bruce-MacBeth Engine Co. and, ultimately, housed Tenk Machine & Tool Co. The property’s industrial run ended nearly a decade ago. We are looking forward to this year’s event as an opportunity to continue collaborating with the local design community in recognizing architectural design excellence in Cleveland and northeast Ohio.

This year’s AIA keynote speaker and design awards jury chair is Marlon Blackwell, FAIA. Marlon is a practicing architect in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and serves as the E. Fay Jones Distinguished Professor at the Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design at the University of Arkansas. The office of Marlon Blackwell Architects was the recipient of the 2016 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award in Architecture and was recognized as the Firm of the Year by Residential Architect magazine in 2011. In 2016, Marlon Blackwell Architects was recognized by Architect Magazine as the best architectural design firm in the U.S.
