Thank you so much for your interest and past support of the Cleveland Design Awards. It is our pleasure to announce the 2019 AIA Cleveland Design Awards. This year’s event will be held at the Hilton Downtown Cleveland on Friday evening, November 1st, 2019. We are looking forward to this year’s event as an opportunity to continue collaborating with the local design community in recognizing architectural design excellence in Cleveland and northeast Ohio.
This year’s AIA keynote speaker and design awards jury chair is Lawrence Scarpa, FAIA from the internationally known firm Brooks + Scarpa. Mr. Scarpa has received more than 100 major design awards including twenty National AIA Awards, 2014 Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt National Design Award, 2005 Record Houses, 2003 Record Interiors, 2003 Rudy Bruner Prize, five AIA COTE “Top Ten Green Building” Awards and was a finalist for the World Habitat Award, one of ten firms selected worldwide. In 2004 The Architectural League of New York selected him as an “Emerging Voice” in architecture. His work has been exhibited internationally including the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. He has been Featured in NEWSWEEK and appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. In 2009 Interior Design Magazine honored him with their Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2010, his firm Brooks + Scarpa was awarded the National and State of California Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects.
The kickoff to the event this year includes our pre-program keynote address. Following the keynote address, a brief cocktail hour will take place with drinks and Hors d’oeuvres. The evening continues with the AIA Cleveland awards ceremony and a plated dinner. The after ceremony party will conclude with drink, dance and plenty of conversation!
As you know, our awards program and our educational outreach is funded through the generosity of companies, associations, and individuals like yourself who act as our sponsors. The accompanying “Sponsor Opportunity” pages outline the various levels of sponsorship and their associated benefits that we hope you will consider. Our event will feature acknowledgement of our sponsors during the ceremony, as well as acknowledgement throughout our printed event program, event signage, and various online media platforms.
