COVID-19 Recovery: Remote Collaboration for Architects & Engineers

As the world turned to working from home, virtual conference rooms replaced the office.  In this highly collaborative industry of building and design, Architects and Engineers are increasingly turning to digital platforms to collaborate remotely.  Work flows continue to shift as the team learns to communicate virtually.  This session, Part III of our post-covid series, will explore the digital tools and techniques that can improve and enhance team collaboration and communication across all disciplines, and across all project phases.  Learn how to work as a team in the virtual space, from design charettes to group QAQC meetings.

We would like to thank AIA Trust, Victor and CNA for sponsoring this event! Sponsored by Victor, the CNA Insurance Companies, and the AIA Trust, providers of the AIA Trust Professional Liability Insurance Program.

Learning Objectives:

Learn tips and tricks for hosting virtual coordination meetings and page-turns with consultants and engineers.  Understand how to use digital tools to facilitate virtual meeting workflow across all disciplines, and record live and intelligent drawing markups as a team.

Identify useful tools to digitally coordinate structural and mechanical PDF drawings even if the whole consultant team isn’t in Revit.  Learn how to utilize PDF overlays to check for structural and mechanical conflicts, and to identify revisions to track throughout the CDs process.
Consider common BIM tools that will facilitate collaboration within the design team by digitally marking up drawing sheets and 3D views with smart tags directly linked to the Revit model.  Improve remote communication by directing comments to individuals or the entire team.

Examine a digital workflow for redlining construction drawings without needing to ever print or PDF.  Learn how to directly link the Revit model to a quality control drawing set that updates as the BIM model progresses.
