A Case Study: Cleveland Public Library Facilities Master Plan
Reflecting on its 150-year history, Cleveland Public Library (CPL) sought to develop a Facilities Master Plan to chart the bright future ahead. This session will unpack the resulting document, presented as a graphically rich 400-page book, which sets new design principles, explores case studies of specific branches, compounds local and global statistics, and inspires a holistic vision for CPL’s future. Since its public release, the plan has inspired wide-spread recognition and excitement amongst residents, city officials, and the public. Attendees will learn about the comprehensive facilities master plan and understand the overall goals and recommendations that it lays out. Attendees will understand the value of a facilities master plan for an institution to appropriately consider building performance, public health, fiscal responsibility, and social equity.
