8 EV Practicum Weekend (Pathology, Sinews, Luo-collaterals)

Join us June 12 to 13th, 2021 for an 8 Extraordinary Vessels practicum weekend with Dr. Yvonne Farrell!

In this 2 day seminar, dive deep into the nature and pathology of the channels of acupuncture like never before, including support for diagnosing and treating pathology in the Sinews, Luo-collaterals and 8 Extraordinary Vessels. The course intends to give attendees an opportunity for guided practice with Dr. Farrell.

Practitioners may learn new skills, refine their diagnosis and develop clarity of intent while creating a treatment. Practitioners should have some basic knowledge of these systems in order to benefit more fully from the hands-on experience. 

*Participants are required to bring a text that has images of the pathways of these vessels. The instructor highly recommends Ann Cecil-Sterman’s, “Illustrations of the Complete Acupuncture System”. If you plan to attend, please wear or bring loose clothing.

 

Day 1 – Saturday June 12, 9am – 6pm:  Post-Natal Pathology: Ying & Wei, Sinews and Luo-collaterals

Participants will:

1. Review the pathways and functions of the Sinews and Luo-collateral Vessels.

2. Learn to recognize holding patterns in the Sinews that cause pain, postural changes or armoring in the Sinews.

3. Participants will be able to diagnose pathology on the Luo-collaterals through visible inspection of the superficial circulation.

4. Deepen their pulse-taking skills and their ability to recognize the nature of Ying and Wei qi in the pulse.

5. Learn skills and techniques and approaches that can be used to release pathology in each of these systems.

 Day 2 – Sunday June 13,  9am – 4pm: Pre-natal Pathology: Yuan Qi & Jing, 8 EV

Participants will:

1. Review the pathways and functions of the 8 EV..

2. Learn a simple but effective way to diagnose 8EV pathology in the pulse.

3. Explore the relationship between the tongue and pulse in 8EV pathology.

4. Develop skills in locating and needling the master points of the 8EV.

5. Learn palpation skills as a method for determining additional points used in 8 EV treatments.

***pre-requisite: Eight Extraordinary Vesssels 101. If not previously taken through Red Tree Wellness, participants can take it through Healthy Seminars.

$400 + GST  for 2 days, CEU's are 13 hours.

Registration is at 8:30am. Class time is Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Dr. Farrell has been involved in helping others to restore balance in their lives for over 25 years. In 1996, she graduated from Emperor’s College with a Master’s Degree in Chinese Medicine. She has been in private practice since 1997. She was a member of the faculty at Emperor’s College for 13 years. In addition to her faculty duties at Emperor’s, Yvonne was also a clinical supervisor. In 2007 Yvonne received her Doctoral Degree (DAOM) from Emperor’s College. Specializing in the use of the Secondary Vessels in treatment, Yvonne has been teaching channel theory to students for many years. A student Jeffrey Yuen, she has developed proficiency with the Eight Secondary Vessels system and has found they are very effective in the treatment of psychoemotional and psychospiritual disorders. Dr. Farrell has been teaching for several years. Her courses are lively, informative and clinically relevant. She is very passionate about the medicine and enjoys sharing this through her teaching. Dr. Farrell is the author of the book Psycho-Emotional Pain and the Eight Extraordinary Vessels available on Amazon.

WITHDRAWAL POLICY: For course withdrawals submitted in writing or in person 30 days or more before the start of the course, registrants will receive a full tuition refund less a $75 non-refundable registration fee. For course withdrawals submitted in writing or in person more than 14 days but less than 30 days before the start of the course, registrants will receive a 50% tuition refund. Without exception, no refunds will be given for course withdrawals less than 14 days before the start of the course, and after the course begins.
