Summary
Tim will share the story of Epic which has grown from 1 ½ employees in 1979 to a global leader with almost 200 million patients currently having an electronic record in Epic. Tim will highlight the core principles at Epic – starting with the philosophy of: Do good, work hard, have fun & make money (in that order).
Biography
Tim Toepel is the Chief Financial Officer of Epic. Epic makes software for medical groups, hospitals and integrated healthcare organizations. Before joining Epic in 2009, he spent a combined eight years as the CFO of two privately held companies in Wisconsin. He began his professional career with the Milwaukee office of Arthur Andersen. Toepel has expertise across the financial spectrum, including financial planning and analysis, risk management, financial reporting and systems, treasury, and payroll.
Toepel graduated with a BBA in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earned his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a Board member of the Wisconsin Technology Council.

Biography
Derrick is a member of Aon’s Risk Advisory Services practice, where he leads consulting engagements for Aon’s North American clients. Derrick has a background in enterprise risk management, specializing in risk analytics. His current focus is on developing and validating quantitative risk models, and on working with Aon’s clients to develop enterprise risk management frameworks.
Derrick joined Aon in July 2014 from Boston Private. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer of the company, Derrick maintained an enterprise risk management program aligned with industry best practice, to ensure clear understanding of the risks in the banking and investment management businesses. This included developing risk analytics across credit risk, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, IT risk and strategic risk to provide meaningful management reporting.

He has more than 30 years of domestic and cross-border transaction and advisory experience including mergers & acquisitions, capital sourcing, and debt restructuring. Michael has also sourced, structured and negotiated recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts and offerings of debt, mezzanine and equity (public and private) securities.
Michael holds an M.B.A. with concentrations in finance and marketing from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, and a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
