Twitter Basics for Entrepreneurs


Twitter is one of the hardest social media platforms for businesses to wrap their heads around, but it can also be the most useful. It helps with search engine optimization and is a terrific place to curate content.

You will Learn:

 Utilizing Twitter lists

How to find people and businesses

How to assess a follow or followers’ relevance to your business.

Proper etiquette on Twitter, Learn the proper way to Direct Messages and engage with others

We will also touch on twitter advertising and targeting


Meet Our Presenter: 

Heather Turner's background is primarily with the hospitality industry. She has worked with a variety of other businesses in the last 15+ years including sailing charters, artists, photographers, non-profits and many more. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. She spent 20 years as a professional chef, the last 8 as an Executive Chef at fine dining restaurants also running the front of the house for many of them.

 In 2003 She started her own business working with bed & breakfasts, restaurants and other small businesses doing website design, graphic design, social media, computer and social media instruction, and hospitality consulting. Currently She focuses on teaching digital marketing and social media and is a keynote and educational speaker at conferences and association events around the country. She also works part-time as the Marketing Director for PAII, the largest non-profit national bed and breakfast association in the US. She is very involved with Toastmasters International and is a double DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster).

2. Our workshops are PAPERLESS, so you will receive an email the day before the workshop linking you to any handouts. You should print it out or load it onto a laptop, tablet, or phone for viewing.

3. Bring your cell phone as you will receive an email with a link to your workshop evaluation form. It will be sent to you toward the end of the workshop so you can complete it effortlessly online before you leave. Wi-Fi is available in most locations.

Please Take Note:

1. You must register online for all workshops. No walk-ins will be allowed for any paid workshops because we do not have the ability to take payment on the spot.

2. There will be absolutely no refunds for workshops.

3. Please arrive with enough time to get settled as every workshop will start promptly.

4. Parking - will not be validated for workshops in Downtown Hartford. Please download the WOONERF App on your phone so that you can replenish the parking meter from your phone if you choose to park on the street and not have to leave the workshop or worry about getting a ticket.

5. Virtual Workshops are a two-step process. Please make sure that you check your email and follow the instructions so you can get the log in credential for the Zoom workshop session. Also, make sure you download the app on your phone or computer prior to the start of the workshop.
