General Charles A. Gabriel Chapter, Number 433
The AFA Gabriel Chapter encourages your participation in the "Wreaths Across America Pickup" at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. Last month, the wreath laying teams placed a wreath on each grave at Arlington to show respect for our veterans buried there. On January 11th, the teams will be picking up the wreaths.
NOTE Due to the recent tensions in the Middle East, Arlington National Cemetery is at an elevated security level. Support to the early entry AFA dumpster teams must now be tracked by name, so signups are due the end of January 6th.
Arlington Security Status: Status
If you want to particpate, you can join with the public at 8:00am. Volunteers will need to join with the public per the cemetery's guidance. Identification will be required for entry to the cemetery due to the heightened security status. See the link above.
One of these early entry dumpster teams will be led by Mr. Pat Rocke, one of our members, who is the AFA's Dumpster Crew Chief. Wreath pickup is fast paced, so bring a broom or long handle to aid in carrying wreaths to the dumpster. They will likely be mission complete pretty early, usually no later than noon (depending on weather).
UPDATE 2 The attachment shows the section where the AFA volunteers will be working.
Mr. Rocke has been assigned to lead the public in removal of the wreaths from the sections between Eisenhower Dr., Patton Dr., York Dr., and Bradley Dr. Those are ANC sections 60, 62-66, 70, and 71.
