Past Conference Participants Shared:
"Attending the Conference revived my spirit of being a teacher and working with children. This is where I am going to do my professional development hours every year!”

“Having our staff here together to experience and engage together was transformational. Having the time to talk with the educators who implement outdoor classrooms was so valuable. Your staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. Thank you for an amazing day!”

“I was
so inspired by all of the Learning Provocation Centers. Being able to see through a child’s lens was eye opening."

Every time we come back from this conference, the staff end up coming in early on Monday morning because they can’t wait to set up new activities they learned!”

The Outdoor Classroom Project is dedicated to increasing the quantity, quality, and benefit of outdoor experiences for children in early care and education programs through providing education and consulting services on the value and design of engaging outdoor learning environments and programs to teachers, administrators, and parents.

We believe that all children need and benefit from more time outdoors and that full development and integration of outdoor and indoor programs creates the optimal learning and growing environment for young children.

The Child Educational Center Presents
The Outdoor Classroom Project's
Annual Conference for Early Childhood Educators
"The Foundation of Natural Outdoor Classrooms:
Gifts of Respect, Time, and Love"

Saturday, January 25, 2020

With additional half-day workshop for Directors and Site Supervisors
Friday, January 24th

The Outdoor Classroom Project® 2020 Annual Conference, "The Foundation of Natural Outdoor Classrooms: Gifts of Respect, Time, and Love” is a dynamic and energizing full-day conference. Whether you are just beginning or are experienced, this one-of-a-kind event offers you a unique opportunity to acquire specialized understanding and skills for cultivating and sustaining outdoor programs and natural environments in your program.  You will be supported in making the paradigm shift from a teacher-directed approach to child-initiated discovery filled with joy. Along with informative and inspiring workshops, we will have over 20 hands-on “learning opportunity” centers for you to explore. An experienced CEC or Outdoor Classroom Project Network educator will be at each center to share with you ways in which we implement the Outdoor Classroom in the CEC model program and at dozens of other Demonstration Site Centers.  For those who want “hands-on” experience, this is your conference.

Learn how using respect, time, and love in implementing the Outdoor Classroom cultivates Whole-Child Education, promoting rich learning in an atmosphere of joy. Whatever your level of experience or education, you will find workshops and activities that inform and inspire you!

You will see how the field-tested and research-based Outdoor Classroom Project approach employs the value of aesthetics, beauty, and natural outdoor and indoor environments to facilitate children’s optimal development and learning.

As hundreds of past conference participants have learned, ECE programs can be filled with the magic of joyful learning. Come experience that magic for yourself!

Conference activities will include:

  • Breakfast and a self-guided tour of the Child Educational Center (CEC), OCP model site.
  • Inspiring, creative, informative, and fun workshops!
  • Lots of time to play and explore the amazing “hands-on” learning opportunity centers.
  • Examples of innovative outdoor environments and activity ideas that manifest authentic engagement of teachers and children.
  • A nutritious lunch and afternoon snacks.
  • Closing, Raffle, Demonstration Site Center Recognition . . . and so much more!

Come reconnect with your sense of play and join the fun!
