Charting your career outside of academia 


The October WISE NL – Statoil Speaker Series event focuses on careers for women is science and engineering outside academia. Dr. Maryam Etezad (Northern Radar) and Dr. Jennifer Campbell (Avalon Holographics) will talk about their careers and reflect on the transition from academia to the private sector. They will share their lessons learned and thoughts about the opportunities for young women outside academia.

About the Authors

Dr. Maryam Etezad received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Concordia University in 2012. Upon obtaining her Ph.D. degree, she worked as a Sessional Professor in the Electrical Engineering department and held a post doctorate position in the Chemistry department of the Memorial University of Newfoundland. She joined Northern Radar Inc in 2013, where she is currently working as a Research Scientist.

 

 

Dr. Jennifer Campbell specializes in micro and nano fabrication. She received her Ph. D. degree in Engineering Physics from Queen's University in September 2015. She currently works with Avalon Holographics as a Litography Specialist. Jennifer is a winner of the Queen's Three Minute Thesis Competition and was an invited TEDx speaker.
