Annual Black History Hike at Sweetwater

Join us for our 8th Annual, 4-mile, Black History Month Hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park on Saturday, February 6. This easy to moderate hike will include a history lesson about some of our unsung heroes and sheroes

Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only  about 45 minutes from downtown Atlanta. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the authenic New Manchester Manufacturing Company built by the enslaved.  The company was a textile mill burned during the Civil War.

Meet us at the TARGET parking lot so we can caravan to the park. You can plan to meet us at the park if you choose.  If that is your desire,  plan to meet us about 10:00a.m.  Have my telephone number with you so we can coordinate - 678.231.4973.

Due to Covid-19, we are not encouraging carpooling.  If you want to ride with someone, you must make those arrangements independently.  We practice social distancing and we wear masks.  We want to ensure we keep everyone as healthy and safe as in our ability to do so.  Please adhere to these guidelines.  So, with that said, come prepared to drive with $5.00 to pay for parking.  Note that a FREE State Park parking pass can be checked out at your local library with your library card.  While the hike is free, donations are appreciated.  See Carolyn with your donation.

As always, wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing. Bring snacks, a healthy lunch and water. We will have lunch on the trail ... weather permitting.
