Loving the Addict in the Pew:  The Journey to Wholeness

What if we believed addiction was really a disease? How might we respond to those who are struggling in our midst?  This presentation will assist clergy in defining addiction, understanding recovery, and knowing their role in ministering to families as well as the individuals themselves.

The Rev. Jan M. Brown is the founding and executive director for SpiritWorks Foundation Center for Recovery of the Soul, the Center for Addiction Recovery & Wellness. Jan has a degree in Psychology, received her Associate Coach Credentialing with the International Coaching Federation in January 2009, and achieved certification as a Professional Recovery Coach through Crossroads Coaching in 2008.

Cindy Barnes has an MS in Counseling and works with the Chesterfield County public schools and in a limited private practice of counseling and consulting.  She has served as a diocesan consultant and transition coach since 2005 and is a member of the Diocesan Crisis Team.
