Are Today's Frontiers Inside Cities? A Lecture by Saskia Sassen

There was a time when cities lost population and economic vitality, as businesses and residents relocated to outer suburbs. At the time, it seemed the era of the city had come to an end, but then cities regained their status as key economic engines. With the return of people and capital, the urban realm was again transformed into a new and dynamic frontier zone. As our modern day frontiers, cities are the spaces where difference collides.

Join us on Tuesday, April 30, at 4 pm as Professor Saskia Sassen gives a lecture on the emergence of global cities.

Lecture: 4 pm-5 pm at Myles Standish Hall, English Room (610 Beacon St. 1st floor)
Reception: 5 pm-6 pm at the IOC (75 Bay State Rd.)
