GFLGLCC Legal Panel for LGBT Families and Couples in Post-DOMA Florida 

Please Join us Monday, November 18th at 5:30 P.M.

Prominent attorneys Richard Milstein, Stephanie Schneider and Luis Font will discuss
legal issues in family law, elder law and immigration law impacting Florida LGBT couples and families, post-DOMA.  We invite you to share the invitation with your colleagues, friends and family. 

There will be a brief networking opportunity before the panel begins.

Complimentary self-parking or valet for $8.  The E-Spot Restaurant will offer all attendees a 15% discount before or after the event.

We will begin the evening at 5:30 PM with a Cocktail Reception in the Aqua Ballroom from 5:30pm – 6:15pm featuring delicious hors d’oeuvres and one complimentary drink for each attendee. You will then be entered into a drawing for a 2-night stay at the Embassy Suites 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale. A cash bar with special pricing will also be available.

Richard C. Milstein, Family and Elder Law Attorney
A shareholder in the Miami office of the national law firm, Akerman Senterfitt, Mr. Milstein’s practice includes fiduciary litigation and administration (trusts, guardianship and probate), elder law, family law, estate and health care planning issues, and sexual orientation issues and deals with high conflict, complex, high profile cases. He is called upon to represent the children in disputed relationships, as well as appointments for vulnerable adults; he is known locally for his work in the Anna Nicole Smith Case in Broward County.

He is a member of the National LGBT Bar Association. Along with a host of committee chairmanships for Bar and civic organizations, he is a frequent lecturer on guardianship, trust and probate matters, elder law, ethics, family law as well as sexual orientation issues around the state and nationally and is certifed in Elder Law.

Stephanie L. Schneider, Elder Law Attorney
Ms. Schneider is certified by The Florida Bar and National Elder Law Foundation; she is a former chair of The Florida Bar Elder Law Section and is a member of NAELA, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Stephanie specializes in estate & incapacity planning for people of all ages, representation in adult and minor guardianships, probating estates, long term care planning and veterans benefits counseling, planning for domestic partners & the LGBT community. Our services are provided with compassion, respect and commitment regardless of age, cultural or gender identity or expression. Stephanie lives with her family in Plantation.

Luis Font, Immigration Attorney
Born in Puerto Rico Luis has lived in South Florida since childhood. As an openly Gay Immigration Attorney for the past 16 years, he has worked very closely with Same-Sex Bi-National Couples. He practices in the area of Immigration, Nationality and Consular Law. He represents individual and corporate clients before the offices of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

In 2001, Luis and his husband, Jim Wilets, were the first Same-Sex Couple to have a marriage ceremony at Miami's Temple Israel (which of course is not recognized by the State of Florida). Luis and Jim live in Miami Shores with their 5- year-old son, Daniel, whom they are very proud of.
