Logged In and Checked Out: The Cognitive Cost of COVID-19 - Helping Students Struggling with Executive Functioning

Children with executive funtioning challenges have difficulty with workingmemory, flexible thinking (cognitive flexibility), and self-control - important skills that affect learning and school achievement. Often, children with excutive functions difficulties become frustrated because "they can't do school" despite their ability to understand the concepts as they are taught. Attendees will learn:

  • Signs your child may be struggling with executive functioning
  • What can co-occur with executive functioning challenges
  • How trouble with executive functions can be diagnosed.

Join us as Dr. Mele-McCarthy discusses what schools can do to help students and what parents can do to support their child.
