Why is my work bringing me anything but purpose or satisfaction? Can I work harder to fix it?
Jim Johnston didn’t need a lightning bolt to hear God’s voice. Rather, a series of events led Jim to the end of himself -- and toward God.
In the mid ‘90s, Jim Johnston facilitated layoffs for Reynolds Metals Company and Kaiser Aluminum and remembers how that felt like a grinding down of the soul. “I was the guy in the office no one wanted to see. Everyone knew that when I was around, a layoff was coming.”
When he retired, Jim found a way to redeem the skills he developed in his position, and he began serving the unemployed.
