MDLT’s SPRING BACKYARD BBQ EVENT

Gather Around Our (Dormant) Backyard Firepit 

Amboy Crater may not be lit, but this open house sure will be! Join us for MDLT's Open House on April 8 from 10am to 2pm in our big backyard at Amboy Crater, an extinct cinder cone in the Mojave Trails National Monument. We will be joined by the Girl Scouts of the San Gorgonio Council to unveil their Mojave Monuments Patch. With their winter Sand to Snow excursion already under their belts, the Scouts will earn their second of three bars towards the patch after spending a fabulous day in Mojave Trails. Not only will our picnic have crafts and snacks, but we will also have our friends over to chat about ants, volcanoes, wildlife, wildflowers, and maps. And what backyard picnic would be complete without chocolate lava cake?

Parking for this event will be limited so we would like to encourage you to carpool. Spending time at Amboy Crater is a magical experience, but your enjoyment might be compromised if you do not come well prepared. Please bring a sunhat, sunblock, sunglasses, and wear sturdy walking shoes to explore the crater. 

• BBQ lunch including pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw and cornbread served by Bruce's Kitchen
• Lava Cake served by Logan's Crazy Cakes
• Interactive stations with crafts and information including: ants, volcanoes, wildlife, flowers, and monument maps and activity!
• Limted Seats Available on MDLT's Shuttle Service from our HQ to Amboy Crater

MDLT’s SHUTTLE BUS DETAILS

MDLT will be offering a shuttle service to Amboy Crater. Our shuttle service has limited seats so if you are willing and able to drive we would ask that you please do so. Our shuttle service will be leaving MDLT's Headquarters (HQ) promptly at 8:30AM so we would ask that you arrive at our HQ at no later than 8:00AM. MDLT will have Joshua Tree Coffee Co. coffee and a breakfast item available at the HQ for a suggested $5 donation prior to attendees loading up on the shuttle. The shuttle service will stay at the event for its entirety. The shuttle will leave Amboy Crater at 2PM and guests will arrive back to MDLT’s HQ at roughly 3:30PM. You may reserve a seat for yourself and up to 6 guests on our registration page under items for sale. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE and you will not be asked to make a payment. If you or any of your guests find that you will be unable to make the event, please inform us immediately so that we can fill your seat. If you find that there are no more seats available and you would like to be put on a waiting list, please contact us at rsvp@mdlt.org.
