The Brain in Love: The Neurobiology of Close Relationships
Harvey Joanning, Ph.D.
Dr. Harvey Joanning is a psychologist specializing in marital, family, divorce, and sex therapy as well as a Family Life Educator who is also trained and experienced as a neuropsychologist. This workshop will trace the development and maintenance of intimate relationships from couples getting acquainted through marriage/cohabitating, parenting, and death. The focus will be on neurological and other physiological process that drive human behavior. Special attention will be given to how to help individuals, couples, and families cope with development and loss of love. This presentation is appropriate for health and mental health providers, family life educators, and anyone interested in understanding how our bodies push us to find love. The presenter will argue that much of what goes on in our love-life is outside our conscious awareness.
